Nicholas Kosuk has played clarinet and bass clarinet in the River Winds Concert Band since its founding, recently returning to the soprano clarinet section after focusing on bass clarinet for the past few seasons. He also plays bass clarinet in the Eastside Symphony, and is a frequent participant in the annual Northwest Mahler Festival.
Over the past 25 years, Nicholas has performed with many Puget Sound area concert bands, community orchestras, and pit orchestras for musicaal theater, opera, and ballet. These ensembles have included the Tacoma Concert Band, Sammamish Symphony, Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra, Microsoft Orchestra (now the Kirkland Civic Orchestra), Thalia Symphony, Cascade Symphony, Seattle Festival Orchestra, Emerald City Philharmonic, Lake Union Civic Orchestra, Bellevue Opera, Microsoft Theater Troupe, Cascade Community Theater, and SecondStory Repertory Theater.
Nicholas has traveled on four international concert tours with the Tacoma Concert Band. He has also performed as a clarinet soloist in works such as Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Weber’s Concertino, and Baermann’s Adagio. He has studied with Seattle-area clarinetist Florie Rothenberg.
